Eight Week Course

During the 8-week course, students will learn the start to finish process of the craft and art of instrument construction, as well as the philosophy behind the more subtle manipulation of tone wood. Materials will be of high quality solid woods only, students are responsible for their own hardware ie machine heads, pickups and cases. Due to insurance and time limitations, some prefabrication of parts will be necessary. Any heavy machinery work, such as jointing or band sawing of neck and heel blocks will be done ahead of time. The neck blank will be cut to rough shape for you. There will be hands on repair and restoration discussions ongoing we encourage you to bring damaged instruments if you have them.

When the course concludes, each student will have a full understanding of the process and will have completed their own hand-crafted acoustic guitar or guitars that are strung and fully playable. The application of a protective finish will be discussed in depth and the student will be involved in the finishing procedure by doing the intermediate work, such as wet sanding between coats, pore filling, and final sanding and buffing. We cannot guarantee that all projects will be completed by the course conclusion due to each persons needs and work habits.

Tuition: $7000.00 CDN$ plus H.S.T
